Uncorked: Smith and Wollensky

“Catch an Early Flight” at Smith and Wollensky now. It’s a great flight of three interesting wine selections for just $20, available at Dinner, Lunch and at the Bar. Wine Flight featured selections include Chalk Hill Chardonnay, La Crema Pinot Noir and La Columbaia Amarone Della Valpolicella. All of the wines are nice on their own, but also pair well with the appetizers and steak.
National Wine Week, set for September 15-19, is their week long series of lunch time wine tasting events, where guests sample and learn about 10 unique, premium wines for just $20 with the purchase of a lunch entrée. Wines are poured by visiting winery representatives, featuring interesting, hard-to-find selections by international and domestic wineries. During National Wine Week, guests also have a chance to win Wine Dinners, Wine Gift Packs and more. A portion of our National Wine Week and “Catch an Early Flight” wine flight proceeds benefit the organization Keep Memory Alive, an organization committed to improving the lives of patients and families impacted by brain disorders. All of the wine lists, raffle entry and charity info can be found here: http://www.smithandwollensky.com/liquid-assets/
What a great deal!
In addition to the amazing wine promotions, the food is excellent. We started with the Shellfish Bouquet: chilled lobster, jumbo shrimp, and lump crab served with cognac and ginger mustard sauces, traditional cocktail sauce and sherry mignonette. Fresh and delicious!
For the main courses we spoiled ourselves with the Dry Aged Cajun Marinated Rib Eye (USDA Prime beef, dry aged for 28 days in house, Cajun marinade). This is a must-order! The beef is so tender and the Cajun rub gives it a smokey flavor.
I went with the Oscar Style Filet with crab, asparagus and Hollandaise. You really can't go wrong!

For the sides, we loved the:

Truffled Macaroni & Cheese

Creamy Corn with Manchego

Roasted Mushrooms and

Onion Rings
Save room for dessert! The portions are huge. We tried the Gigantic Chocolate Cake – layered with chocolate ganache and Coconut Cake- passion fruit sauce.
Both were outstanding! Be ready to get a doggy bag.
